As discussed throughout many of our partner presentations at the Process Summit, it’s become more important now than ever to find IT solutions for the OT world. Stratus is an Edge Computing company that focuses on avoiding failure rather than just recovering from it. All of Stratus’s fault-tolerant servers require no IT skills, have no downtime, have predictive monitoring, and are standardized and open.
Virtualization Benefits – Why Do It?
Investing in industrial IT to virtualize not only simplifies your processes, it allows for software upgrades, hardware upgrades, and better disaster recovery. With fault-tolerant servers, “disaster” no longer has to mean downtime and thousands of dollars lost. By implementing industrial IT, you now have built-in redundancies, while managing far fewer servers and purchasing far fewer licenses. You can read more about how that works in our previous blog covering Virtualization.
How Do Resilient Servers Work?
Resilient servers are built to be always-on and provide availability unachievable by traditional servers. They are managed like a single x86 server and are ideal for mission-critical apps. On a traditional server, when a component failed, everything failed. On fault-tolerant servers, the system isolates any failure and notifies Stratus that a CPU has failed. The system automatically orders the correct replacement part with Next Day Delivery Service. These replacement components are easy to replace, and the system automatically synchronizes to it. This results in no downtime, no data loss, and the servers have an 8 to 12-year lifespan.
Stratus’ fault-tolerant servers are great for the following industries:
- Fabricated metals
- Material handling
- Food and beverage
- Metals and mining
- Water and waste
- Pulp and paper
- Oil and gas
- Power generation
The servers can be set up in minutes, are easy to manage, and have single button restore. They operate autonomously with predictive health and can be remotely managed.
