Giving back to the local community is an important part of our mission at French Gerleman, with service activities, fundraisers and events ever-present throughout the year. This year, the St. Louis team proudly hosted the Women’s Electrical Board of Missouri and Illinois for a fabulous evening of fundraising to benefit Paraquad, an organization serving individuals with disabilities.
The Women’s Electrical Board (WEB) is a branch of the Electrical Board of Missouri and Illinois (EBMI) which aims to enable women in the industry to network, learn, and give back to the community. The Board consists of members from all aspects of the industry including sales, purchasing, vice presidents and administrative assistants. With 80 women representing numerous companies across the bi-state area, the WEB has made a large impact in the community through their annual fundraiser, and this year was no different.
The event was hosted at French Gerleman by Nicole Wagner, Data Integrity Specialist, who plays an active role in WEB. More than 50 members of the WEB were in attendance, including four from French Gerleman.
More than $1,500 was raised at the event, and non-monetary donations were collected to help support Paraquad clients to transition to a greater state of independence. These items housewares, toiletries and items needed for the Bloom Cafe, Paraquad’s flagship initiative to provide employment to those with disabilities.
Paraquad has a special connection to both Nicole, who is proudly related to an individual with disabilities, and French Gerleman President Mike Stanfill, who was first introduced to the organization in the 1970s through his late uncle, also disabled. Located in the Forest Park corridor, Paraquad has been serving the community for more than 45 years. The organization strives to change the conversation about disabilities, and in 2017 alone, they served more than 2,000 people.
Thanks go out to the WEB and the EBMI for organizing this benefit, which we were honored to host. We appreciate the generosity of all those who attended, donated and supported this wonderful event, and of course, Paraquad for the amazing work that they do in the community.
